How you to charge for your services is probably one of the trickiest questions that a new freelancer is faced with. My main concern was charging too much based on my relative lack of experience although I tend to undervalue myself (a completely separate post!) so I suppose I was always going to end up somewhere in the middle.
I thought it would make sense to tell you a little about myself to put this whole project into context.
I decided to become a freelance copywriter at the start of 2012. I had been in the same job for about six and a half years (commercial manager at AFC Wimbledon) and it was time for a change. I had always fancied being my own boss and I was debt free so I thought I’d give it a go. I agreed to stay at the club until the end of the season in May but in the meantime, my boss came across a sports marketing project and he asked me to get involved. It sounded interesting so I agreed, a little reluctantly in all honesty as I loved the idea of working for myself.
